How to use Veo 3.1

Use the model-specific notes below alongside the settings table. This page offers text and image generation only, not reference audio/video, editing or extension.

Plan the shot

Write a self-contained shot with a clear beginning and ending. Prepare 16:9 or 9:16 input frames so important details are not lost to provider cropping.

Know the limits

720P offers 4, 6 or 8 s; 1080P and 4K use 8 s here. Output includes Google’s SynthID marking. Video extension is not offered.

Compare drafts

Keep the prompt and input image consistent when comparing settings. Change one choice at a time, then review the complete clip before choosing a larger output.

Two briefs to adapt

Writing examples, not tested outputs. Copy a brief, adapt it to your scene, and select the matching mode and duration before generating.

A brief to adapt

Start with 4 s at 720P. This is a writing example, not a tested output.

A lighthouse keeper closes a wooden gate and watches the beam sweep over the sea at dusk. The camera slowly pulls back to reveal the cliff edge. Wind and distant waves, restrained natural lighting.

Animate your own image

Upload your starting image in Image to video. Copying a prompt does not upload images or submit a task.

Keep the subject and setting from the starting image. Add a small, natural movement, while the camera slowly moves closer. Preserve the lighting and composition. End with a steady hold.
