Upscale your image

Enlarge a photo by 2x or 4x while keeping the source proportions.

Enlarge the image, not the composition

Upscaling increases the width and height while keeping the source proportions. It is the right step when an image fits your design but does not have enough pixels for its intended size.

Choose the size you need

2x enlargement
Double each dimension. The output has four times as many pixels as the input, without changing the aspect ratio.
4x enlargement
Multiply each dimension by four. The output has sixteen times as many pixels as the original.
Transparent PNGs
An image with actual transparent pixels uses the dedicated 4x path. The scale selector is fixed and the output remains PNG.

Set the size before processing

  1. 1

    Upload the best original

Avoid a screenshot of an image if you still have the original file. The tool uses the source's actual pixel dimensions.

  2. 2

    Choose 2x or 4x

Choose the scale you need and review the credit quote before processing. Transparent images use fixed 4x scaling.

  3. 3

    Download and use at size

Compare the original and result, then download PNG. Inspect the result at the size where it will be used.

Start with detail worth keeping

  • Avoid repeated compression

Repeatedly saved JPEGs and heavily compressed social images may contain artifacts that enlargement makes more visible.

  • Preserve transparency

Upload the PNG itself, not a screenshot on white. A screenshot no longer contains the transparent pixels that select the transparent workflow.

Look beyond the dimensions

  • Inspect faces, fine textures and lettering for invented or distorted detail.
  • Compare at the same viewing scale; a smaller preview can hide artifacts.
  • More pixels alone do not guarantee print quality or recover information that was never present.

Questions about this tool

Is 2x the same as 2K?

No. 2x doubles your source width and height. A 600 × 900 image becomes 1200 × 1800, not a fixed 2K format.

How much larger is a 4x image?

Both width and height are multiplied by four, so the total pixel count increases sixteenfold. A 2000 × 2000 image becomes 8000 × 8000.

Can I upscale a transparent image?

Yes. Images with actual transparent pixels use a separate fixed 4x workflow with PNG output.

Does upscaling add space around the image?

No. Use Expand image to make a larger composition around an unchanged original. Upscale enlarges the original itself.

Will small text or faces become perfectly accurate?

Not necessarily. Enlarged detail can be inferred or distorted. Compare important lettering and faces with the original before using the result.

Which files can I upload?

Sign in and upload one PNG, JPG or WebP up to 4MB and 40 million pixels. Tool uploads keep the source pixel dimensions; transparent files and output limits depend on the tool.

When are credits used?

An available credit quote is required before processing. Starting a task reserves its quoted credits; failed tasks follow the existing refund flow. Opening a tool, adjusting settings or bringing in a saved image does not start a paid task.
